All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, fees, and your obligations associated with the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle with Car Hire in Irvine, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with possible extra charges for those under 25. A valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address must also be presented, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Irvine office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by you. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges will apply accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will be incurred for lower levels. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You will find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. For those seeking to minimize financial liability, additional insurance options may be offered. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You remain accountable for damage or loss up to the excess amount, except when supplemented by additional insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, off-roading, or engaging in any hazardous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials and sub-letting the vehicle to unauthorized individuals are not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Adherence to passenger and weight limits is required, and travel outside of designated areas must have prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by California law, Car Hire of Irvine will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of California. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in California courts.
